The young man walked into his apartment, sighing as he eyed the mail he clenched in his hands.  He had been expecting bills and only bills, like very other day.  What he found in the mailbox almost made him jump.

It was a letter from a girl he knew from his days at Raira Academy.  He used to know her pretty well... And liked her a lot.  He still talked to her sometimes, in person.  He would've asked her out if she didn't get a boyfriend right after graduating.  They'd been together for a while now and things were getting pretty serious.

He slowly opened the off-white envelope that smelled of some sort of perfume.  He slipped out a simple piece of white paper.  He read the first line slowly.  He read it again, his brain numb.

'Nomura Tadashi and ______ _______ invite you, Kadota Kyohei, to celebrate...'

Kadota didn't bother reading the rest.  He just crumpled the paper up in his hand.

Soon everybody will ask
What became of you

"_______!!!"  You turned around and smiled.  Running toward you was your good friend, Erika.  You were out in Ikebukuro getting errands done, and you were just about to head home.

"Hey, Erika!"  You yelled, waving.

She stopped in front of you.  "You're getting married?!"  She screeched, flapping one of the wedding invitations in your face.

You giggled.  "Yes!  Tadashi asked me just a few weeks ago."

She stopped and furrowed her eyebrows.  "Why are you guys having the ceremony so quickly?!"

You shrugged.  "I don't know...  Why wait?"

Erika glared at you suspiciously.  "Okay, well how come you didn't tell me?!"  She crossed her arms.

You sighed.  "I'm sorry!  We decided to keep it under wraps."  You smirked at her.  "I was going to ask you to be a bridesmaid, if it makes you feel any better..."

She was suddenly smiling.  "Oh my gosh, I'd love to!!"  She squealed.  "I wonder what dress I'll wear?!"

You laughed.  "I'm glad you accepted!"  You frowned when Erika's face fell.

"Is there something wrong?"  You asked, studying her features.  She looked disappointed and even kind of sad.

"O-Oh, it's nothing!"  Erika shook her head.  "I'm fine.  But I'm so happy for you, _______!  I can't wait for the others to find out!"

"Yeah, the others..."  You laughed and shifted your stance in discomfort.  You were nervous for one certain person to find out.

"Anyway, I'll see you later!"  Erika waved and went running off.  Something about her expression still bothered you.

You sighed and tried to shake the feeling off.  You walked home, still carrying bags of food in hand.  You opened the door to your apartment with your free hand and pushed it open with your foot.

"I'm back!"  You yelled, setting the bags down on the counter.

"Hey!"  came the usual reply.  You walked over to the couch to find your husband-to-be, Nomura Tadashi.  You plopped down next to him, leaning your head against his shoulder.

"The invitations came in the mail today..."  You stated, glancing at the TV.  You watched as an anchorwoman reported on the latest Ikebukuro news.

Tadashi smiled.  "That's great!"  He stated enthusiastically.  "I can't wait for the big day!"  He leaned down to kiss you.

"...Me either..."  You mumbled before kissing him back.

Cause your heart was dying fast
And you didn't know what to do

"Are you sure you're okay, Dota-chin?"  Erika asked, looking with concern at her friend.  They were sitting in the van as Togusa drove around Ikebukuro.

Kadota glanced at her quickly.  "I'm fine. And don't call me that."

"B-but Dota-chin!  I know you got the invitation too!"  Erika complained.  "And you totally have a thing for her!"

Walker sighed and leaned against Erika.  "He won't admit it.  His soul is being torn apart in torment at the thought of our precious ________-chan being taken by another ma-"

"Stop with your melodramatic garbage."  Kadota told Walker.  "If she's getting married, then she's getting married.  I'm not going to try and change her mind..."

"Huh?!  You're not even going to try to win her over!?"  Walker complained, staring at Kadota in shock.

"No."  He stated.  "This isn't one of your stupid romantic manga.  Real life doesn't work that way.  She obviously wants to be with him..."

"Ahh, whatever.  I still say you have a chance."

"Just leave him be."  Togusa said.  "If he wants to sit on his ass and do nothing, then let him."

Erika frowned.  "That doesn't sound like the Dota-chin I know..."

Cath, it seems that you live in someone else's dream

You looked at yourself in the mirror.  You inspected your flawless make-up and perfectly done hair.  Your white dress was stunning as you twirled around in it.  At that moment, you felt beautiful.

But nothing felt right.  You sighed as you slouched over.  These past few weeks, you'd been denying the truth.  You had feelings for Kadota.  Sure, you really like Tadashi.  He was a nice guy who was wonderful and amazing.  But this whole situation didn't feel right.  Your mind kept wandering back to Kadota.

It occurred to you that maybe you were just having a bad case of 'cold feet'.  Didn't every bride-to-be go through this?  Was this normal?

You jumped when there was a loud knock at the door.  "_______, it's almost time!"  The sound of your father's voice called.

"O-Okay..."  You opened the door and tried to look happy.  It was hard when you felt like you had a hard lump in your throat.

"You look beautiful..."  Your father said, smiling at you.  He really liked Tadashi and was glad that you were marrying him.

"Thanks."  You smiled up at him.

"Shall we go?"  He stuck out his arm for you.

"We shall..."  You wrapped your arms around his.  He led you to the big wooden doors.  They creaked open to reveal the faces of all your closest family and friends, along with the people Tadashi had invited.

She holds a smile
Like someone would hold
A crying child

You attempted to keep your expression consistent as you walked down the aisle.  You could feel your smile turning into a cringe.  This wasn't what a normal bride-to-be should be feeling, right?

At the alter, you could see Tadashi, smiling ecstatically.  You glanced over to see Erika.  Her expression was solemn once again.

You began to feel a tight feeling in you chest.  It was painful and uncomfortable.

You stopped in front of Tadashi and the priest.  Your father stepped out of the way.

You listened as the priest droned on about vows and all the things marriage means.  You only vaguely listened.  Was this really what you wanted?  It didn't feel like you wanted it.  You tried to imagine your future living with Tadashi.  All that came to mind was another certain person...

"Do you take _______ ________ to be your lawfully wedded wife?"  These words knocked you out of your thoughts.

"I do."  Tadashi smiled at you.

"Do you take Nomura Tadashi to be your lawfully wedded husband?"  The priest asked, addressing you.

You looked at the priest, then over at Tadashi.  He was waiting expectantly.

"I-I..."  You started, then gulped.  You felt like you were going to puke.  Tears began to well in the corners of your eyes.

"________?"  He whispered, confusion showing in his eyes.

"No..."  You whimpered.  You turned and ran down the aisle.  Shouts of surprise met your ears, but you tried blocking all of them out.

"________!"  Your father called.

You didn't even turned around to look at him.  You just pushed through the wooden doors and hurried to the exit. You passed many people, just pushing them out of way.

You hurried down the stairs of the chapel, almost falling a couple times.  Running into the crowded streets of Ikebukuro, you headed toward the busiest place of all.

~********~

"What do you mean she left?"  Kadota yelled incredulously into his phone.  He was perched on the edge of a huge fountain, wearing a nice tuxedo.  After leaving for _______'s wedding, he had decided that he couldn't stand to see her marry someone else.  Erika had tried to reason with him, but he just couldn't do it.

"She just left the ceremony!  Just before she was about to say 'I do'!"  Erika screeched into the phone.  Kadota could hear Walker yelling excitedly in the background.  "You have to find her!  She was crying!"

"Okay, I will."  Kadota closed the phone and placed it back in his pocket.  So she wasn't married...  He wondered what reason she had for leaving.  She had seemed happy enough with Tadashi.

He got up and immediately looked around.  Without hesitation he headed out in the direction of the chapel.  He pushed through crowds of people, not even looking back when a mean comment was directed at him.  All the while, a list of the places you could've gone from the chapel ran through his head.

Suddenly he bumped into a person who was moving just as quickly as he was.  The force made him fall to the ground.  He heard a soft "Uhf!" from the other person.

"I'm sorry."  He groaned, picking himself off the ground.  He glanced at the other person while rubbing his head.  His eyes widened slowly.  "________!"

"Ah, Kadota..."  You mumbled, rubbing the side of your head.

"Are you okay?"  He offered a hand to you.  You took it, and he helped you up.  As expected, you dress had gotten very dirty.

"I-I'm fine..."  You tried to smile at him.

He raised an eyebrow.  "Erika told me you left the ceremony early..."

Your eyes widened.  Looking away, you heaved a shaky sigh.  "I-I did..."  You felt your lower lip start to quake.

"Wanna talk?"  Your eyes snapped back to Kadota.  He was staring at you with an almost gentle expression on his face, hands resting casually in his pockets.

"Y-yeah..."   You mumbled.  Maybe if you talked to someone, you could sort out your feelings.  You kinda wished it wasn't the source of your confusion, though.

"C'mon, let's go sit somewhere."  He jerked his head toward the huge fountain.  You nodded and fell into step with him.  The people of Ikebukuro stared at you and Kadota as you passed.  You must've been a weird looking pair, seeing as you were dressed in a dirty wedding gown, and he in a tuxedo.

You and Kadota rested down on the edge of the fountain in the semi-darkness of evening.  Staring down at the hands laying in your lap, you remained quiet.

Kadota stayed quiet as well.  You sneaked a glance up at him.  He seemed deep in thought as he gazed straight ahead.

"So, why'd you do it?"  He asked in a low voice.

You flinched at his question.  "I-It's not what I wanted..I think."

"You think?"  He asked, giving you a look.

"Eheh...Yeah..."  You wiped a tear out of your eye.

"Then...What is it that you think you want?"  Kadota asked.  He looked forward again.

You.

"Uhm...  There's someone else..."  You muttered.  "He's an amazing guy...  Who's always there for me...  And, he cares."

"Are you sure about this guy?"  He asked you.  The question took you by surprise.  "Are you willing to give up your life with Tadashi for him?"

You didn't even have to think about it.  "Yes...But he's never shown any romantic interest in me."

Kadota shrugged.  "You never know.  Try to tell him about it.  These kind of things have a strange way of working out..."

"..O-okay..." You wiped your cheeks free of tears.  You thought about how you were going to tell him.  Glancing at him out of your peripheral vision, you noticed that he too, seemed a little solemn.

You sighed heavily, releasing all the tension in your body.  You leaned against him and rested your head on his shoulder.  If this didn't give him a clue, then you didn't know what would.

"Huh?"  He stiffened.

"Kadota, I..."  You whispered.  You didn't know what to say to him at this point.

"...So it was me?"  He muttered, more to himself than you.

He gradually relaxed and grabbed one of your hands out of your lap and held it tight.  He leaned his head gently against yours.

"I always wanted to be with you, too, __________."  Kadota whispered.

Okay, so I know this isn't my best writing at all...And it's a completely cliche plot...BUT I DUN CAAARE! D; I wrote it anyway!!

Anyway, I really wanted to write something for Kadota, and this crap is the result. Also, I tried researching Japanese weddings to make this somewhat accurate, but it was all too confusing. Then I read somewhere that a lot of young Japanese people have Christian style weddings. So...*Takes the easy way out, liek a bauss*
