You looked around you.  All you saw was darkness.  You could hear faint, muffled laughter and the echoing footsteps of someone nearby.

"W-Who's there?!"  You yelled into the darkness.  No answer came.

You felt hot breath on your ear.  You whirled around, only to find that your surroundings had changed.  A looming, full moon hung in the sky, looking as though it would fall at any second.

There was a man wearing a black suit in front of you, blonde hair gleaming in the light of the moon.  You recognized him as your German boyfriend, Ludwig.

"L-Ludwig, what's going on?!"  You asked shakily.  You extended your hand to his, but he quickly jerked back.

"I'm leaving you, _______."  His blue eyes gazed coldly into yours.  "I hate you."  He turned his back on you and walked away.

You stared at his receding back, frozen in shock.  Just this night, you'd left him on the couch to watch sports while you slept.  He'd kissed you and told you that he loved you…

"L-Ludwig, this doesn't make sense!"

Suddenly, another figure grew out of Ludwig's shadow.  It was a tall, thin figure, wearing a black suit paired with a white tie.  Its white, completely featureless face made your skin crawl.

It reached out a hand toward you and…

"AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!  GET AWAY FROM ME, SLENDERMAN!"  You flailed into a sitting position on your bed, sweat dripping off your body.

A loud BAM made you jump and shriek.

"WHO'S THERE?!  I'LL KILL YOU FOR HURTING ________!"

The light in your room turned on, revealing a disheveled looking Ludwig standing in the doorway.  He held a small pistol in his hands.  "SHOW YOURSELF, INTRUDER!!"

"DON'T SHOOT!"  You exclaimed and ducked down just in case.

Ludwig jumped as he realized that you were the only other person in the room.  He jumped again when he saw the tears streaming down your face.

"Oh Gott, _______..."  He immediately set down the gun and hurried over to you.  He sat on your bed and pulled you into his arms.

You buried your head into his chest and let the tears fall.  He stroked your hair and whispered calming things like, "It's okay."

After awhile, you attempted to compose yourself and lifted your head off of him.  "Sorry, Luddy.  I had a bad dream."  You admitted, almost like a child.

"J-Ja…Do you want to talk about it…?"  He asked, sounding uncertain.

You forced a laugh.  "Well, Slenderman was coming after me…"

Ludwig shuddered.  "That scares even me…"

You gave another small laugh.  "A-And then you left me…"  You whispered, scared just to think about it.  You and Ludwig had been dating for a long time, and the thought of not having him in your life frightened you.

He pulled you into another hug.  "I would never…" He whispered.

You smiled at his reassurance and looked up at him.  "Stay with me for tonight?"  You asked, too scared to be left alone in the darkness.

"Ja, I will."  He smiled gently down at you.  You grinned back, noticing that his hair was starting to fall out of its slicked back position.

You reached up and ruffled his hair, making it completely come free of its glue restraints.  You giggled.  Ludwig looked so cute with his hair down.

Ludwig got up to turn the light off.  He made his way back to your bed and got under the covers beside you.  You rested your head on his chest, and his arm went protectively around your waist.

"Sweet dreams, _______."  Ludwig whispered.  "Ich liebe dich…"

"I love you too…"
